In February, WVU and the Morgantown Utility Board begain site preparation for the new Erickson Alumni Center. The WVU Alumni Association plans to officially break ground on June 1st.

Work on the roof above Ruby Grand Hall continues to move along.

The new alumni center will include an outdoor fireplace in the courtyard. The footer for the fireplace has been poured and work continues to move along smoothly.

During the last week of March, workers began laying brick along the backside of the building. The Association purchased the brick from West Virginia owned Otto Brick.

Most of the outside prep work has been completed on the center and the brick work has already begun.

The club room located on the second floor will include two fireplaces. Workers recently completed the installation of fireplace inserts and connected the gas line for the fireplaces.

Two large logias lead to the Ruby Grand Hall which will seat 450 dinner guests (1,000 theater style).

The New Home for Mountaineers is expected to be finished by late-September 2008.

Workers are completing the enclosure on the center's bell tower. The tower will include four circular pieces of Blenko stained glass which include the Flying WV.

Construction crews have been braving the heat to complete the retaining wall near the courtyard. The courtyard also includes a brick, outdoor fireplace.

Nearly 75 percent of the brick work on the new alumni center has been completed. Work to finish the bell tower will begin in mid-August.

Construction crews have braved the elements to make sure construction stays on schedule.

The site of the new Alumni Center is located just off Elmer Prince Drive near Ruby Memorial Hospital.

The site has been a flurry of activity as the University, MUB and the Alumni Association work together to get the site ready for the groundbreaking.

The new Erickson Alumni Center will more than triple the size of the current facility. The building was designed by IKM Architects of Pittsburgh and will be build by March-Westin of Morgantown.

Work on the new alumni center is going well. Here, workers are finishing up the foudation for the loading dock area.

Work on the new site is expected to take 14-16 months to complete.

Although Morgantown has experienced rain, sleet and snow during much of December, workers have been moving full steam ahead with construction.

Workers have been busy with work on the front of the new alumni center. Pictured is the area that will be known as the terrace, which will be located just off Elmer Price Dr.

The site of the new alumni center is full of activity as work continues to move along at a steady pace.

The building is expected to be under roof in late January (weather cooperating, of course!).
